Report

With Summer Time switching in overnight it was an early start for most. By 8am (7am) the controls were out, the registration desk was set up and those who had camped overnight were emerging from their tents. There was still a thick fog in the valley.

The first rider set out at about 10am after a quick check of the SI pods to make sure we did our siums right when setting the automatic start to account for DST. As the riders on the shorter courses started cursing you just knew that they had seen the distance and hills between controls 2 and 3. More moans as they plotted their way further into the map. But only 1 minute of pain before they punched the start control and headed off.

All riders were out by about 11:30. There were one or 2 straglers who had to wait for childcare to get back from the first wave of starters. The M60 were first to start arriving in, closely followed by the M50. Not surprisingly, the last of the riders back had done the long (and hilly) course.

The rain arrived just in time to wash out the presentation ceremony, and to save David West from another public speaking engagement. So, medals will be awarded in absentia.

The lucky draw prize of a Light & Motion Solo 13w MTB light went to Tom Clarkson of New Zealand (lucky buggar).
