Race Report

2008 6 Hour Enduro Sunny Corner State Forest

By Darvo

Well done on a great event guys. It was fun. Quite different to a polaris which has big distances between checkpoints and different again to a normal mbo because of the big scale and no lines between the check points.

Dave and I decided to go anti-clockwise. mainly because the climb up to 43 looked so tough. we thought the one up to 46 looked longer and therefore more rideable, but i'm not sure this turned out to be the case... anyhow, our route... I don't think it was the most efficient way around but not too bad. We kind of forgot 6 and 11 for some reason, the obvious way to get them was after 36.

So we went: 1, 2, 3, 36, 9, 8, 38, 15, 16, 14, 20, 31, 32, 33, 34, 45, 43, 44, 42, 46, 60, 59, 58, 47, 61, 17, 35, 19, 18, 10, 41, 37, 40, 49, 55, 56, 50, 48, 57, 54, 52, 53, 51, 39, 13, 11, 6, 12, 7, 5, 4, finish

Mistakes:
Wrong turn to #2, took an unmarked track too early and wandered around in the bush for a while
Should have got 6 and 11 after 36
Should have got 34 before 33.
Should have got 48 after 58
Should have approached 50 from the north

We rode about 74 km (that's about 1 km for every psi dave had in his rear tyre) and i'd guess near 2000 m climb. what did your watch say dave? you could probably save a couple of km on that.

All the new single track was really cool. Trail bikes aren't all that bad... until they start to rut out the tracks.
